EngAge BC board holds dialogue with Hon. Adrian Dix and Deputy Minister

Last Monday, Minister of Health Adrian Dix and Deputy Minister Stephen Brown met with the BC Care Providers Association/EngAge BC Board of Directors at the organization’s Burnaby office.

At the meeting, CEO Daniel Fontaine presented an update to them both on the Association’s advocacy, policy initiatives and new programming aimed at improving access to care, supporting quality of life, and addressing the heath human resources crisis facing the sector.

In addition, SafeCare BC CEO Jennifer Lyle was asked to present an update on the positive trends in reduction of workplace injuries seen by employers who have enlisted for SCBC’s training sessions.

Minister Dix was then given an opportunity to address the board and took a series of questions for the closing half of the meeting.

“First and foremost, our organization sees itself as supporting the Ministry of Health’s mandate to strengthen the delivery of seniors’ care in the province, which will allow older adults in our province to live longer, more rewarding lives,” says board president Aly Devji.

“We acknowledge that Minister Dix and Deputy Minister Brown are enormously busy running B.C.’s public healthcare system, and thank them both personally and publicly for taking the time to engage in open dialogue with our board members.

“We are committed to our ongoing partnership to strengthen seniors living and wellness services in our province.”
