Lest We Forget: A Remembrance Day message from EngAge BC and BCCPA

On Remembrance Day, we take a moment to reflect and pay respects to the thousands of Canadian men and women who served and gave their lives for their country.

“On behalf of our members, EngAge BC and BC Care Providers Association pay tribute to the men and women who fought for the many freedoms we enjoy today,” says CEO Terry Lake. “While today is the day we honour those we lost in battle, it is also a day to celebrate the seniors who are still with us today, many of whom are residents in our long-term care and retirement homes. We will be forever grateful for their courage and devotion to our country.”

While commemorations will look different this year due to the pandemic, there are still ways to ensure Remembrance Day is marked appropriately.

The Royal Canadian Legion is reminding Canadians that the best way to pay tribute to the fallen this year is at home. Watch the National Remembrance Day Ceremony on Facebook Live or B.C.’s provincial Remembrance Day event at the cenotaph in Victoria which will also be live-streamed online.

Observe the two-minute silence at 11 a.m. on November 11th in your home or on your doorstep.

Digital poppies are available via donation on mypoppy.ca, Royal Canadian Legion’s new nationwide program. Make a monetary contribution online until November 11th and a digital two-sided poppy will be emailed you to you in return.
