EngAge BC Proposes Independent Living and Home Health Pandemic Planning and Prevention Fund
Daniel Fontaine, CEO for EngAge BC has announced the intent to establish a new Pandemic Planning and Prevention Fund aimed at supporting our independent living and home health members. Funding will be provided by the BC Care Providers Association and will be overseen by the EngAge BC Member Council.
While final details are yet to be finalized, the new fund is expected to be utilized for the following purposes:
- Steer the development of relevant pandemic planning and prevention tools and seek member feedback as necessary
- Develop an outbreak prevention guide for members, which outlines best practices and lessons learned from COVID-19
- Develop a member-based education library including videos and resources
“The Association recognizes that our independent living and home health members are experiencing unique challenges as a result of COVID-19. For example, members have told us that they have received limited support or communication directly from government. Our hope is that we can develop practical tools and best practices which will help as the sector moves forward,” says Fontaine.
This follows last week’s announcement of EquipCare BC, whereby, the Province announced they would be partnering with the BC Care Providers Association (BCCPA) to launch EquipCare BC to help seniors in long-term care and assisted living homes.
EquipCare BC will provide $10 million to enhance infection prevention and control and improve quality and safety in both publicly subsidized and private pay, long-term care and assisted living homes throughout the province.
